Sankafa Jewelry is a conceptual branding and visual identity project inspired by Ghanaian heritage, symbolism, and craftsmanship. The brand draws its name from "Sankofa", an Akan word meaning "to go back and retrieve," a philosophy rooted in learning from the past to inform the future. The concept is also represented by a stylized heart-shaped Adinkra symbol, which became the foundation for the brand’s visual identity.

The goal of this project was to design a cohesive identity that reflects Sankofa’s core values: heritage, memory, and craftsmanship. At the center of the brand is the Lost Wax Casting technique, an ancient metalworking method practiced for generations in Ghana’s Ashanti Region. This technique carries deep cultural significance and honors the time-honored skill of Ashanti artisans.

I integrated theSankofa symbol in the logo andthroughout the brand in a way that felt reverent but modern, using clean lines, natural forms, and a balanced typographic system. The identity pairs earthy, refined colors with graphic elements that evoke the tactile quality of handcrafted jewelry. The result is a brand that feels rooted in tradition while appealing to contemporary audiences, as a way of honoring the past while embracing the future.
