In celebration of Passion Works Studio’s 25th anniversary, I collaborated with their team of artists to design a modular packaging system for a new line of jewelry. Passion Works is a vibrant community art studio in Athens, Ohio, dedicated to empowering artists with disabilities through creative expression and meaningful employment.

The goal of this project was to develop a packaging solution that was sustainable, cost-effective, and aligned with the studio’s inclusive mission and bold visual identity. My approach centered on creating a modular system that could adapt to individual pieces, complete sets, or even serve as an in-store display element all while preserving the energy and individuality of the studio’s famous aesthetic.

To solve for budget and sustainability constraints, I repurposed existing artwork made by Passion Works artists (watercolor and crayon card stock that had been previously created in the studio). By turning this original art into the packaging itself, each piece became both a protective container and a miniature canvas, connecting customers directly to the creative process behind the products.

The result is a packaging system that is practical and visually dynamic, and also deeply personal, reinforcing the studio’s values and creating a meaningful point of connection between artist and customer.
